The Business department teaches a range of business concepts at both GCSE and A Level. Classes will look at how a business is run and how the economy affects these businesses, as well a business finance and enterprise.
Key Stage 4 - GCSE Business
This WJEC Business GCSE introduces learners to the business world, empowering them to develop as commercially minded and enterprising individuals. Learners will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills, enabling them to use business information critically, to develop arguments, to make justified decisions and to prepare them for further study and career pathways. The course is made of up of two examined units, which cover a variety of business topics such as enterprise, aims, ownership, business ethics and globalisation.
Key Stage 5 - As/A-Level Business
The WJEC A Level in Business is a two year course that looks at many aspects of the business world including finance, marketing, human resources and business related laws. The AS is made up of two units of work, which are examined at the end of year 12. One of the two exams is a short answer exam paper, whereas the second exam is a data response paper covering topics from both units 1 and 2. A further two units are studied in year 13, with another 2 exams at the end of the year. Unit 3 exam is also data response yet Unit 4 exam is based on essay questions.
